INSTRUCTOR
Farid Shecaira is a Petroleum Engineer. He worked at Petrobras from 1980 to 2021. He holds a degree in Civil Engineering from USP (1979), an extension course in Petroleum Engineering from Petrobras (1981), a Master's in Petroleum Engineering from the Federal University of Ouro Preto (1988) and a PhD in Engineering in Petroleum from the University of Texas at Austin (1998). He is currently studying Business Intelligence – BI – Data Science at PUC (Pontifical Catholic University) in Rio de Janeiro.
At Petrobras, he held the following positions: Researcher at the Petrobras Research Center (CENPES), Head of the Division of Geology and Reservoir Engineering at CENPES; Technical consultant; Coordinator of the Advanced Oil Recovery Program; Production Development Manager at Petrobras America; Production, Reserves and Reservoirs Manager of the Petrobras International Area, Manager of the Iara and Atapu Pre-Salt mega-projects and General Manager of Research and Development in Exploration and Production at Petrobras R&D Center - CENPES.
He was a postgraduate professor in Petroleum Engineering at PUC-Rio (2000-2014). At the Society of Petroleum Engineers, he was President of the SPE Section Brazil (2012-2014) and director of this institution for several terms. His main contribution at SPE was to coordinate the elaboration and publication of the “Curriculum Proposal for Bachelor's Degree Courses in Petroleum Engineering”.
