OBJECTIVE
Provide the student with a comprehensive view of renewable energies with a focus on solar, wind and biomass energy. The main approach resides in the engineering characteristics and risks of the enterprise.

INSTRUCTOR
Haikal Leite holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ, 1980), a Masters in Mechanical Engineering (COPPE-UFRJ, 2008), a PhD in Mechanical Engineering (COPPE-UFRJ, with his research done at the Technical University of Delft, Holland, 2014), an MBA from Fundação Getúlio Vargas – RJ (1998). He worked at the Leopoldo Miguez de Mello Research and Development Center of Petrobras – CENPES from 1987 to 2017, where he was Manager of Electrics and Utilities and later researcher and Senior Consultant on Gas and Energy, Renewable Energies, Biofuels and Energy Efficiency, working mainly on cogeneration and distributed generation, thermoelectric generation and thermal cycles, wind energy, solar thermal and photovoltaic energy, biomass energy, combustion and gasification, simulation and computational fluid dynamics.
He worked as a mechanical engineer at the Directorate of Naval Engineering of the Brazilian Navy from 1980 to 1987, in the design and construction of systems for warships and submarines, with a course in “Submarine Design” at Ingenieurkontor Lübeck (IKL) in Lübeck, Germany, in 1985.
He taught training courses for Equipment Engineers at PETROBRAS University from 2000 to 2016, He was a professor of Mechanical Engineering at the Santa Úrsula University Association (2006); of the Lato Sensu Postgraduate Course at UERJ in Energy Engineering (2018, 2019 and 2020); of the Lato Sensu Postgraduate Courses at PUC-Rio in Photovoltaic Solar Engineering, Energy Generation and MBE Energy (2020 and 2021). He is the author of two patents.
He is currently a Researcher at the Energy Institute of PUC-Rio in a research project on Photovoltaic Solar Energy.
